Hi Friend, I am so honored you decided to visit our page!
We created this blog to be an encouragement to everyone, especially the many women and men that are in long distance and/or cross-cultural relationships…we feel for you. Distance relationships are difficult, but they can also point us to the Almighty God who created us to be in a close-knit relationship with Him. When our loved one is not around we can learn to better depend on God for our strength.
When we stray from God we create distance, similar to a long distance relationship (which is possible to have but not ideal). We want Letting Go Love to be a movement encouraging us to mend “distance” we’ve created between ourselves and God. Once we learn to love God through letting go of our plans and trusting Him, we can learn to love others (including our partners) with the sacrificial love of Christ. I dated my wonderful husband across continents for 3 (and a half) years! It was a tough road, but we finally closed the distance and are loving being married!
Thanks for reading and I pray you are encouraged by our website.
With Love, Jeanette
We met the summer of 2013, just before that fateful summer I had finally told God that I was happy being #single and of course that was when He brought my husband-to-be into my life. I was the mission intern, and he was working with the nonprofit mission I was interning with in Ghana. And at first we didn’t like each other. Well we did like each other… but we were not willing to admit it.
After six weeks of slowly getting to know one another Evans asked me to go on a walk, and I finally got the courage to tell him how I felt. With that confession he let out a HUGE sigh of relief and said he felt the same.
We courted for three and a half years across an ocean, and were able to grow closer to God and each other through the process. The ocean separating us became an ocean of love.
Evans planned a surprise engagement party for me with all of my closest friends on January 23, 2016 and of course I said…YES! And in January 2017 we finally closed the gap! We could not have made it this far without the grace of God, so we give all glory to Him.
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and faithfulness! (Psalm 115:1)
